Electronic Verification Code (EVC) – Additional Modes

incometaxtips.inTax payers can generate Electronic Verification Code in many ways as directed by Central Board of Direct Taxes vide notification 2/2015 dated 13th July 2015. The new measures will eliminate the procedure to sending the physical copy of ITR V acknowledgment to CPC Bangalore.

This article is in addition to our earlier publication on EVC, recently income tax department have introduced two more ways to generate EVC and verify the income tax return. Income tax department has as per their notification # 2/2015 dated 13th July 2015 have defined following ways to generate EVS

a. EVC through e-filing website Via Net Banking Banks

b. EVC thru Aadhaar Authentication using Aadhaar OTP

c. EVC using Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) of a Bank

d. EVC using Registered Email ID and Mobile Number

As per notification # 1/2016 dated 19th Jan2016, income tax department have introduced following additional ways to generate.

e. EVC generated by providing bank details

A facility to pre-validate bank account details will be provided to the assessee under profile settings menu on e-filing portal. Assessee has to provide following bank details for verification and to generate EVC.

  • Bank Account Number
  • IFSC
  • Email ID as registered with bank
  • Mobile number as registered with bank

All the above details will be then validated with bank database. If the pre-validation is successfully completed, assessee can opt for “Generate EVC using bank account details” option while verifying the income tax return.

EVC generated will be sent on the registered email ID & mobile number. To see the list of bank participating in this facility click here.

 

f. EVC generated thru Demat account authentication

A facility to per-validate demat account details will be provided to assessee under profile settings menu on e-filing portal. Assessee has to provide following demat account details for verification and to generate EVC.

  • Demat Account Number
  • Email ID as registered with CDSL/NSDL
  • Mobile number as registered with CDSL/NSDL

 

All the above details along with PAN and name as per e-filing portal will be validated against the details of the tax payer registered with depository (CDSL/NSDL) database. If the pre-validation successfully completed, assessee can opt for “Generate EVC using demat account details” option while verifying the income tax return.

EVC generated will be sent on the registered email ID & mobile number.
